Tiago Ern is a DB Member, Master Civil Engineer and independent risk consultant with over 24 years of international experience in infrastructure, insurance, and underground construction. His career spans Latin America, Europe, and Africa, combining strong technical engineering foundations with deep expertise in insurance risk analysis, contractual practices, and loss prevention. Speaks four languages and has worked/involved across 27+ countries, he brings a global, culturally adaptive perspective to complex construction environments.

Over the past decade, Tiago has performed more than 650 risk engineering desktop reviews across CAR, EAR, CECR, and Property lines, while also conducting extensive site surveys in major infrastructure projects including 47+ hydropower plants, 10+ metro lines, innumerable tunnel projects, 7+ports, and 7+ mining operations and construction, including Rare Earth mining. His background includes senior roles at leading organizations such as AIG, as well as technical and commercial positions at OECI (Odebrecht), Sika AG, and BASF (Master Builders). This combination enables a balanced view project's actors, design, execution, dispute resolution and underwriting requirements—critical for identifying, quantifying, allocating and mitigating risks early. He was trained in many courses and has two master degrees (Tunnels and Construction Materials).

Tiago is a DB member, advises concessionaries, builders, insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and contractors on disputes resolution, risk analysis, risk allocation, contractual frameworks, and project performance. He is actively involved in international tunneling and infrastructure forums (ITA WG3), contributing to discussions on geotechnical risks and contractual practices. His approach is pragmatic and risk-focused, aiming to bridge the gap between engineering realities and client expectations, supporting enhanced enterpreneurial decisions and resilient project outcomes.

We started motivated to provide field surveys in the infrastructure business 20 years ago. We wanted to set a new, high standard of work as consultants, solving our client's problems. Today, we continue to build on that legacy and strive for excellence in everything we do.
